"Emotional Trauma is Moral Injury in need of Soul Repair"
~ Barbara Allyn

Barbara Allyn is a thought leader, trauma response professional and the creator of Tribal Theory. She is a certified trauma therapist and crisis-intervention counsellor with 25-years’ experience in active, front-line crisis response.

Barbara has spent the last few years training and working with schools, Indigenous communities worldwide, first responders, veterans, veterinarians, forest rangers, foster and youth care, corrections, crisis teams, and medical staff to re-tell the story of our cellular response to crisis, adversity and trauma.  She  uses Sensory Dialogue, Symbolics, and Ceremony which, unlike the Western dogma under the guise of mental health, acknowledges and invites world views of healing. Tribal Theory Global is now integrated in several post-secondary institutions that aspire to equip learners with global healing practices to engage with individuals, families, and communities impacted by trauma. Tribal Theory Global can be found at Onajigawin Indigenous Services as well as the Child & Youth Care – Indigenous Specialization programs at Confederation College, in addition to select courses at Lakehead University in the department of Aboriginal Education.

Tribal Theory has been met with enthusiasm and applause and integrated into trauma-informed practices worldwide.

Barbara is available for conferences and workshops internationally.

Barbara Allyn's widespread legacy as a beacon of light and support to others began on a boat in the Victoria harbour in the 1970s. An unlikely place to launch a career as a trauma counsellor to be sure, but it was soon apparent that her gift for connecting with others and experience at the Victoria YMCA was being wasted sequestered below-decks.
