WHAT IS TRIBAL THEORY GLOBAL?
Tribal Theory Global is an intriguing universal sociological framework that is rapidly being adopted to support the healing practices of crisis, adversity, and trauma worldwide. Created by Barbara Allyn, a Canadian trauma specialist and crisis intervenor, Tribal Theory Global is a universally adapting model that, unlike conventional Western methods, is not only non-colonial, but actively decolonial. It challenges the Western pathologizing of people, which says that there is something wrong with us, and instead witnesses what has happened to us and our human, spiritual, cultural, primal, physical, and philosophical responses to those experiences. Her recent book, The Genius of Anxiety, Depression & Trauma, is being described as a paradigm shift in how we walk, perceive, and respond at a cellular level to our world experiences. It acknowledges traditional and cultural healing practices outside of the Western lens.
Barbara Allyn is a thought leader, trauma response professional and the creator of Tribal Theory Global. She is a certified trauma therapist and crisis-intervention counsellor with 25-years’ experience in active, front-line crisis response. Barbara has evolved into a paradigm shifter through her groundbreaking work on Sensory Dialogue, Symbolics, Ceremony, Moral Injury, Timeless Travel and Integration Healing. She is often invited by Canadian media to provide commentary on human responses to traumatic incidents both here and abroad.
